Social Media and Journalism

Have you ever thought about how new technologies and social media are impacting Journalism in 2021? If you have not thought about it, well now is the time to do so. New technologies include, internet, computers, smart phones, tablets, etc.

With this technology, journalism has changed and maybe for the better. Having a computer is a way to do article work for a newspaper or magazine at home. You can go to google and look up whatever you want. Journalism has never been such a “at home” job, but now it can be.

Social media has its pros and cons for journalism. With the platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. it is a lot easier to get news around. People don’t have to watch TV to check the news. Journalists can easily share their work through these platforms. Journalists have to constantly adapt to the changing of media to be successful.

And with an “active” audience, they can receive instant feedback to see what their readers thought. The audience is extremely important on social media. When you see a person’s profile and they have a large following, you can’t assume that every person following them is active. So, the audience is crucial for having a successful journalist site.

Journalists are always willing to learn the new ways of the media to get their work out there. It is evolving every day. So, every day is a new learning experience.
